40G Suggestions?

Looking to start a 40G tank with sand as a substrate. Any suggestions on the type of sand I should buy and where I can buy it? As an added, might as well ask for suggestions of fish types that would be good as well.

Kind of related question. If you have a sand substrate can you use a regular gravel vac and not worry about it sucking up the sand?

Yes. Hover the vacuum an inch above the sand and do it in slant position.
