5 Gal.filter

I had that same problem with my dp's. Check out this thread http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80899

I have them with a Whisper 10i internal filter right now, but I had to turn the flow down to prevent them from getting knocked around. I guess that's OK, but I don't like underfiltration. I'm probably going to try the plastic bottle thing (linked in the above thread) with an Aquaclear 20 HOB.

wow that is interesting I may try that with the filter I have now first thanks plah
please let me know if it works! I wanted to try it, too, but was afraid that the backwards-directing of flow would still end up knocking them around.

By the way, I also tried putting all kinds of filter media into the filter, as well as a filter bag around the intake to reduce flow, and it still was too much current. But, like I said, I'm not too happy with underfiltration that I have going on currently.

What about one of the air powered corner of box filters? They dont create hardly any flow besides the air bubbles. Ive seen them pretty big that hold quite a bit of media.
what are those? the only air-driven filters i've seen are the sponge ones for fry tanks. and those have only biological filtration. It sounds like what fishfreak is suggesting contains media for mechanical filtration as well? I'm intrigued and want to know more...

Hello!

I posted the same question for my 7 gallon, and was given the tip with the plastic bottle, and I have to tell you that it worked wonders!

The flow would go back towards the glass and disperse in such a way that it no longer knocked the little guys around..............worked like a charm =)
