im getting a 50 gallon tank and want my centerpeice fish to be tiger barbs and am looking for some bottom feede
maybe a raphael or a group of clown plecos.
10 tiger barbs

A Raphael may be able to hold their own with tigers, or you could look at smaller botia loaches such as zebra loaches. The botias are more robust and feisty and can handle barbs.

Id avoid plecos, some barbs will go after their dorsal fins, it's a gamble

Id stick more to one kind, yoyos do get a bit bigger. Zebras can be a little shy, but a larger group will bring them out more.

Sounds like a start.

One thing I can add, I once tried a group of 10 tiger barbs and 10 green barbs in separate 55g tanks. It very well could have been my particular batches of fish, but one by one, the weakest would get picked off until 1 remains. It takes months for this to happen.

I only have 2 green barbs left. One is a stunted tiny one and the other a full grown adult. The adult chases the stunted one constantly, but I have no where else to put either, so it will one day be survival of the fittest.

A nice, friendlier--but rarer and harder to find-- alternative, melon barbs!
