I'm a bit perplexed with the world of all the new lighting out there.

I have the new style 55 gal with the center brace and I'm looking at going with more powerfull lighting. Currently has 2 24" single bulb hoods.

If I go with a 48" CF lighting such as:

How does that work with that center brace? what in the way of to keep fish in would be needed?

Thinking the Glass Tops but not sure how it works with all these new type lights.

Thanks,

When I bought my 55 gal 6 years ago or so it came with one 48" light strip. With that center brace it never sat exactly flat, but it wasn't a problem. I have 24" glass covers on each side.

so the 48" light with legs should compensate for the center brace height and not cause any real leakage of lighting?

Tank is gonna be an Amazon Biotope so I want the plants to get as much light as possible.

That brace isn't going to be enought to cause that much light loss. It is maybe 1 1/2 thick right? If it is it will not cause any problems.
