does any one store water for water changes in a 55 galon food grade plastic drum. i can get one of these for free and was thinking it would be good for dechlorinating and storing water in. i was going to run hook up a submersible pump to circulate the water and to pump water out of the bucket and into my 120 gallon tank. It could even serve as an emergency or tank.

I do this for my saltwater tank - I use a 30g trash can in a hallway closet. It's got multiple power heads and a heater. I use the biggest powerhead to pump water to my main tank and it works like a charm!

I do that, too, but I use a couple of 44 gallon Rubbermaid trashcans (and a 30, too). I have heaters in each and a Mag pump to get the water to the tanks. It allows you a lot of control over the replacement water (I treat some of mine for African cichlid tanks).

A 55 gallon container would be nice. You can do a lot of water changes from that...
