Im rather interested in bucktoothed tetras (Exodon paradoxus) and their behaviour. I plan to get a 55 gallon tank for a show tank and was wondering about specifics for these guys. (This tank would be mainly for the tetras) Should the tank be planted or will they destroy it, how big of a school should I buy so they dont kill each other, what bottom feeders are compatible with them, (clown loaches?). Feel free to post anything if you own them too. Also how much should I expect them to run if I find a pet store that actually carries them? Thanks

I've seen the in petsmart before, normally at least 4.99 per fish.

If you do keep them I'd probably just go with them. They are very aggressive, and rip up tankmates pretty well. I'd get the whole school at once, and keep them well fed. You might get away with an armored bttom feeder if you put it in the tank first. Rafael cats might be an option as tankmates, provided they have some hing places the exodons can't get into.
