So I have a 55 gallon tank doing nothing in my garage & I have several Betta I would like in one tank & not all around the house like they are now. I wanted to know how should I go about dividing the tank?
I read that Betta fish don't do well in deep tanks, but that is just not true, at least for the guys I've had over the years. I have one in a 90 gal & he usually stays in the top half, but from time to time, he will explore the bottom & even nap there.
I could make 8 sections that would be deep & narrow, the dividing wall would be width wise, 6*13*21in, making them 7.1 gallons each. This first version would have just one front viewing side.
Or I could do it with 12 sections divided length wise & width wise, 8*6.5*21in, making them 4.73 gallons each. The second version would have both long sides to view, so a short side would be against the wall with the rest having clear space.
So which version do you think is best, 8 or 12? I will have 3 inches of sand and will be planted with ground cover, broad leaf and tall live plants to reach the top. The Betta will have places to rest at all levels, making the depth of the section irrelevant.
