55g tang ideas

than what should i put on the terraces??

i guess i just like the idea of the terrace to add a verticle element to the tank

Again...

Personally I would not do cyprichromis in this size tank. 1) I don't see enough room for a proper school. Even the non-jumbos reach 4-5" as adults and you need a minimum of 10-12 for them to feel secure. 2) They are VERY expensive. Also, they do not ship well and are hard to acclimate. Unless you have a large budget don't go the cyp route.

The only good reason to do terracing if you're keeping shellies is to plant behind the terrace. The Shellies will dig anywhere there are shells, and that means that if you put shels on the high side of the terrace, they will just dig on both sides and spit sand back and forth over the top. If you want verticality, go with a rockpile (or a stand of vals if you think you have the lighting.) Alternately, some well cured driftwood would not be totally out of line so long as you use calciferous rocks (tufa, lace rock) to counteract the acidifying properties of the wood.

You know, you could put a catfish in there and that would keep your fry from getting totally out of hand. A secondary rockpile concealing a half flowerpot would work nicely to provide a hang out for it.

i have a african featherfin catfish that is about 6 inches, would that work???

oh and would it work if i had occies on the right side for the tank and brevis on the left side of the tank
