I'd guess that any of the spiny eels are big enough to take an adult shellie if they were hungry.

I've read of them getting to 10", but mine has been around 8" for years and peacefully coexists with my shellies. Since I've had it for atleast 4 years, it should be done growing and its mouth is not even close enough to being big enough to eat a multie. I also have elipsifers in there, but they will get to 18" and will eventually have mouths large enough to eat a multie, so I wouldn't recommend those to you.

Since you're on a tang tank, I almost forgot about plagiostoma. They max out around 8" also and will not be able to eat a multie. A little more rare and expensive, but $50-75 for an eel from the biotype is cool.

Most likely shipping will be expensive.

i figured around 20 dollars.

and yeah i think spineys are cool you sound pretty convincing that it wont eat multies, but my concern is that it will eat fry. i like plagistomas but i cant justify 50-75 dollars for a fish. or at least not right now.

current idea
X neolamprologus multi
X brevis shellies
2 neolamprologus leleupi orange
6-8 praecox rainbowfish

is there anyway i could add a altolamprologus comprecciseps?

This is for the 55gal right if so i would say why not but comp's posses a large extending mouth and will be an effective baby snatcher..

Shipping on those 8 lelupi will be like 30 to 40 bucks this time of year..

jesus why so expensive!?!?!?!?!

and the alto compr. will be nice when the babies start to get out of hand, plus arnt they really slow growers?

what about Xenotilapia bathyphilus
