55g tang ideas

There's no way that I know of to bleach rocks to lighten their color. Better to find some that are closer to the color of your sand, or use a very fine grade of "natural" colored gravel (coarser sand) to blend better with your rocks.

no what i mean by bleech is to put it in actual bleech, let it sit and then rinse it off. it scrub all the nasty crap that was on it and makes it a real pretty white color. i could have bought it pre-bleeched but it was expensive

Bleach will sterilize rocks, but you don't need to use it full-strength. About a cup will work for 5 gallons of water. If the rock is porous it would be best to soak it in plain water after bleaching it, then use some dechlorinator to make sure it won't be oozing residual bleach into the tank.

definatly. i got some declor i can use im probly gonna do it tonight. its THR so it should absorb it like a sponge

I have not tried the bleach route but i have heard it can be done just have to really make sure you clean the heck out of it bleach and fish dont mix to well..

As for what toddnbecka and afro said sounds like good advice..

i didnt have time them but i plan to eventually sometime this week.

im starting to change my mind on what i want tho for my aquascaping. im stuck between deciding, my current options are:

shell feilds on both sides with rocks in middle.
or
rocks on both sides and shell feild in the middle. (if i do this could i have a breeding pair on the sides?)

Your best bet would be shells in the middle w/rocks on the sides. Even with rocks in the middle you won't be able to keep breeding pairs of shellies in separate territories in the long run. Calvus or comp's on one side, shells in the middle, and a small species of Julie or buescheri on the opposite end would work well.

ok ive got some lelupi that i plan to keep on one side, and i may go with a julie pair on the other side but im not sure, would love sugestions of something that would be interesting and colorful. im gonna go with my brevis in the middle instead of multies (they can stay in the 10g) crap im gonna need more THR if i plan to do this.

Leleupi are a bad choice to mix w/shellies, they tend to tear them up from what I've read on a couple other forums. Multi's would be a better choice if you want to breed and raise the young in the same tank. The non-colonial species aren't nearly as good for protecting their fry after they're free-swimming. Also more interesting when their numbers increase, and the whole colony protects their territory.
If you want a really interesting fish (and can find one for a decent price) get a plagiostoma spiney eel. They're few and far between in general availability, though there are some listed on aquabid at a bit more than twice the regular price. Elipsifer eels are also great, but will outgrow a 55.
