I'm glad I moved my Amazon swords to my 66g tank. Are those jungle vals?
They look good with the swords. That looks like something I want to do for my larger tank. With the pygmy chain sword in front. The wood in the plants gives it a less landscaped and more wild look that I like. Thumbs up!

Thanks for the comments. I'm just waiting for it to fill in a bit more. There is a large gap in the center because I just put a baby sword off the big plant there. Won't be long before that's filled.

Swimfins, I don't think they are jungle vals. As far as I know they are a vallisneria species called "tiger" and corkscrew vals too. The grassy plant in the front right is dwarf sag.

Oh nice. I've got dwarf sag and pygmy chain sword. The pygmy chain sword is grassier I think. The dwarf sag is dark greener and thicker. I've got both. Hard to tell them apart... I'm new to plants. I've got vals that have curly cue threads growing out the middle. Its not corckscrew. I think what I have are jungle vals.... I wish they'd label the plants at my LFS!!!!!!!

I know what you mean about not labelling plants. I often don't know their real names.

The sag reminds me of a miniature val. Sounds like your vals could be vallisneria spiralis. I know there's at least 2 or 3 varieties of corkscrewing vals.

I really like RTR's thoughts on stem plants. I'm basically planning on eliminating stem plants from the tank in the future. Hoping to find a barclaya red. Just have mostly vals, swords, and the barclaya occupying a good portion of the tank.

Thanks for the link, and yes your right its spiralis I have.

I'm curious as to RTR's opinion on stem plants. As in good or not so good?

I know I would avoid the hygro for the new tank. Its too invasive. I put a bit in there for now to make it look nice until my lights come. But I'll pull it later.
