90 gal MH or T5HO?

I originally bought a 90 gal aquarium with overflow for a saltwater set up and bought two 250 watt metal halide fixtures. Now I've changed my mind and want to go all out planted instead. Will the MH be too much? Would it be a better idea to just get a T5HO fixture or maybe mix the two? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks a lot

There's no such thing as too much light if you run CO2. Without it a pair of 250W MHs will make a 90 an algae farm in short order

I would think it's just over kill to run 500w of MH unless you have a vested interest in supporting an energy company. :lipssealedsmilie: If you don't want to incur the initial expense of purchasing another fixture you can experiment with just running one centered. You have option like SubRosa if you are injecting Co2, ferts, maintenance and the right plant selection there's no reason why you wouldn't be able to do both.

Subby got it right. Glad you are going to get CO2, you will have a forrest soon.
