Personally, if you aren't planning on stocking until after you move I would just collect what is needed and set up after the move.

I believe what greech was referring to was in the display tank. Most reefers use multiple power heads for circulation.
 
the vortech MP40 system uses 2 vairable speed pumps in order to produce good circulation, as well as a slightly chaotic wave effect. I was thinking along the same lines, just gathering stuff, and holding off on the live sand/rock. ahhh, I have trouble keeping empty tanks empty for extended periods of time.
 
Yes, I was referring to the diplay tank. If you have 2 MP-40s then you are all set. One will probably be enough but another small powerhead might be needed down the line.
 
I had the intentions of using 2 mp-40 pumps. using the wave making capabilities of the the mp-40 system. I also have a 1500gph pump which I intended on using for a closed loop circulation pump. both of those on top of the big mag drive I get for the filtration.
One thing I have been pondering, looking around for is in regaurds to plumbing. I intend on having internal overflow, likely in the center, which will also hold the circ. output. I will have an MP40 on either side of the tank. Any ideas suggestions forewarnings, ect... in regaurds to the plumbing factors of a reef tank. I am fairly familiar with fluid dynamics, and how I intend to quiet the system slightly, looking for others suggestions *** well.
 
My only suggestion would be to drop the closed loop completely. There is just no need for it with 2 x MP40s. You can create a wave in a 90 gallon using 1 x MP40. If you are using a standard drilled tank, a "herbie" drain with a return over the top would be my suggestion. Otherwise, if the tank is not drilled and you really want the Cadillac of drains, go with the "beananimal".
 
The tank is not drilled, So I will be the one placing the holes. I am going to go with 1". I really like bean animals style of overflow, since having this system being as quiet as possible is something I an striving for I think this will be the overflow style I go for.
ok, so no closed loop needed if I am running 2 MP-40's, good to know that. I am looking at the 3 holes in the center of the tank, curious if I should have the return line split into 2 outflows into the tank? would it be best to split the flow closer to the tank or the pump?
I realize there are a lot of questions here, and believe me I am researching this all over, I have had a lot of good success with advice from the AC and MFK boards.
 
Split it closer to the tank.
