A/C Water?

Here's an odd question:

We just set up a new and fairly powerful window air conditioner in the living room (bought in large part for the tank:perv:). It produces lots of run-off via condensation. In fact as I was looking at flow through the diverter hose I couldn't help but wish my R/O filter was as efficient.

So, how about it ... anyone believe, or try using, water such as this? Precipitated from the atmosphere, shouldn't it be pretty close to distilled pure?

And given a new unit, with no time for gunk to accumulate in the bottom pan, clean hosing and a clear storage container ... would it work?

Condensed water from the air often contains a lot of contaminants, including bacteria and dust. Not nearly as pure as you might think. You can use a TDS meter to verify this in most cases. Even if it is seemingly pure, contaminants can be present in small enough quantities to still present a problem.
