My parents are making me get rid of my 10g tank. They said that there is no point in having it since I have the big one. I told them that I can use it as a hosptal tank or a quaranteen tank, but they didn't care. My mom said that if I really wanted it, I would have to put it downstairs. It would just be a pain to clean it an stuff because here are no sinks for me to use my python. I would have to do it with a bucket and the old syphon thingie. I don't know what I will do yet.

My parents did the exact same thing to me when I got my big tank. just put the ten under your big tank. they'll never even know its still up and running. a lot of people do that to keep feeders.

I feel for you my parents said I can't get anymore tanks either. I told them that I could put a big one in the living room and it would look good but they said no. They told me the one in the kitchen was too much but they are tolerating it. I think your parents don't want you to spend all your money on Aquariums and fish(at least that's what my mom's excuse is).

How big is your big one??? I have 3 tanks, that's it, and none are over 30 gallons. What's the big deal, it's not like they are using that part of the house. I found the only way to be able my fish are to move out and that's is happening next month(can't wait to get a 55G or 75G as soon as I do).

I used to have the 10 in my room like 2 years ago. There is too much stuff there to put it back. Both tanks are in my dining room along with the computer. My mom said that if there was more room in the dining room, she wouldn't care if i kept the tank. There is no room under the other one for it. I keep all my fish stuff under there and i don't even think that it would fit right.

Man, I'm sorry... and No offense to all of your parents but they suck!

Just like mine.. My mother never let me get any animal. So now that I am a mother of 3 and living on my own I have decided that my kids will run the animal part. Thou no cats, dogs, bird basically nothing like that... but they can have a 55 Gallon and a 10 Gallon 'hospital' in their room when they get older.

My husband is allergic to animals, well technically the dander. So fish is all the kids will be able to have and I have decided that I will not hold back on them if they wanted to get more than 1 but I put my foot down if they want something bigger then a 55 Gallon for their room. Since I will be having a 80 Gallon in the living room and when I get the money and the experience I will be moving the 80 gallon to my husband's and my room and putting a 125 Gallon in the living room, but that will be a while since we are still renting. We want to wait on buying a big big tank till we are in a more permanent place.

But that does suck. Hope everything works out!

Well, just put it downstairs, then. A 10-gallon tank is easy to take care of with a siphon and a bucket. Negotiating the stairs with a big plastic jug of fresh water is a once-a-week hassle.

Meanwhile, make sure that all fish equipment etc is absolutely invisible and the show tank looks great! Let them hear some compliments from visitors.

They'll come around...

...or they won't!

I agree, cleaning a 10g with a syphon and bucket is nothing. It would probably take more time to hook your python up and stuff than it would to do it with a bucket. I clean a 10, 20, 23, and 66 with a syphon and 2 gallon bucket, soon to be an extra 12 gallon tank added too.
