You know, it bugs me when people say they don't like wrestling (wwe, etc) because it is fake. How would it be entertaining at all if it was real? No one would ever get a move in. Let's face it, you're not just going to let someone come up and suplex you, you would always resist it. If people don't like wrestling because it is fake and scripted, then they shouldn't like much of anything on tv because just about everything you watch has a script and is pre-determined. I can understand when people say they don't watch it for other reasons (it offends you, or you just don't like it, etc) but to say you don't watch because it is fake is a pretty lame excuse.

Kane used to be my favourite until he became unmasked kane. Now I don't really know, Kurt Angle probably.
 
Yeah. Did you see when Steve Austin threw Kurt Angles Olympic medals in the sewer? That was sooo fake. They were probably plastic
 
Lol, I seen it. Obviously he wouldn't let his real gold medals be thrown away. It wasn't a sewer was it? I seem to remember it being a river.
 
It's fine with me for some to enjoy wrestling. For me, it's like watching people play cards (poker) on TV - I won't watch it.

WWE Wrestling is entertainment in the truest sense of the word.

It is not a sport. A sport is a contest, with an undetermined outcome.

I do not watch it because steroid enhanced sweaty guys and gals throwing each other around and mugging for the camera doesn't appeal to me. It's like a violent soap opera.

Now I do watch "real" martial sports like boxing and UFC, because the contest and human struggle to triumph intrigues me.

There is no such drama in Vince McMahon's "sport", and other pre-scripted shows. Not to mention they play to the lowest audience and the content is juvenile and badly written.

Not that I think poorly of anyone who does like watching it, just not my cuppa.

I do pretty much ridicule anyone who pushes it as a sport. Any news on WWE should be reported in the "entertainment" section of the news, and not in the "sports" section.
 
All professional sports is entertainment. But I fully agree that WWE is entertainment and not a sport. I've known people who say "That can't be fake!" My response is "That's painful for sure, but it's scripted." Most moves are executed for maximum noise and with great care to prevent injury and minimize pain.

Have you ever seen Hulk Hogan without his bandana? He's got a series of small vertical scars on his left side where his hairline used to be. It's where he'd cut himself with a razor blade so he could bleed for the crowd. It's not visable in all his pictures, likely covered by makeup.

As a former high school wrestler and a current youth wrestling coach, I enjoy the rare opportunities to see my sport on TV. They hardly even give olympic wresting any airtime. Sometimes I turn on professional wrestling, but I have to turn down the sound. All the yelling gets on my nerves. I'd much rather watch boxing or martial arts; two other sports that have brought me both pain and pleasure.

You know. Me too. I am constantly trying to explain to people that these guys get hurt, it's not fake blood... they are bleeding, sometimes through cutting themselves or banging a "bleeder" like Rick Flair does, but the only "fake" part of it is that the outcomes are scripted, the characters are scripted, the storylines are scripted, but these are athletes putting on a show for the crowd while staying in character which amazes me (Eugene's a great example). I am totally in awe over it.

I love professional wrestling. It appeals to the part of me that used to love soap operas (broke myself of that habit years ago...)
