How can I find out if different sands are ok to use in aquariums, because at work we have silica sand and this black sand called black beauty, any help on what I can look for on the packaging would be a great help.

Silica sand and black beauty will both work in a tank, but black beauty may not be a good choice depending on the kind of fish because it has sharp edges.
