i added 3 horseshoe crabs to my tank tonight and i have located 2 and cannot find the 3rd one at all. do they burrow in the sand and crushed coral? i didnt think they did since they are such active little critters. just wandering thanks in advance

yup, they sure do. Actually, in the wild they can burrow into the substrate to wait through winter. Short term they will do it to find food and also to escape predators. So I'd say your horseshoes are getting nice and settled in :)

Yes they do I have 1 and its a pain in the butt.... It gets stuck all the time and it trys to swim and gets stuck on the filter. Ive had him for about 2 months now, but he is a great sand sifter and bottom cleaner...

LOL :D

Good for you guys for being able to keep on alive, though. I've heard it can be touch and go. Sometimes they're frail, other times they'll survive almost anything

great point Crown Royal. I was going to ask, but wasn't sure if there was a small species. You're absolutely right, they do get quite large.

Nope, no small species and they get BIG for sure! When they are mature your tank can end up looking like the desert on a really windy day. They are great scavengers in large f.o. set ups but, I wouldn't use them in a reef due to their mining activity ! If you have 3 you're probably going to have to suppliment their diets when they get big .
How big is your tank?
