Well i was thinking of using some 3'' ABS grade pipe i have that is un-used and making some caves for my convicts with it?

would this be ok? I know a few people who have used to to make water returnes and large multi tank air pumps, but not caves.

I just want to make sure it will not leach toxic thing into my aquarium.

just make ure theres no sharp edges. if you want you culd silicon rocks and substrates to it to make it look more natural

That was my main idea, to use some 100% silicon (any brands you recomend and have used would help 100%) and silicon some rocks to it, but i also need to be 100% sure that ABS pipe is safe for an aquarium and also 100% safe silicon for aquariums.

well I'me 100% sure that PVC pipe is safe. as for the silicone, theres suposed to be some kind of DAP aquarum silicone you can find at home depot or similar. I personally have only researched my DIY ventures.

I think I will just return the piece of ABS pipe, becuase its just not worth risking and i dont need to stress myself out, let alone kill my fish, because i also know pvc is 100% safe for aquarium use, I will run to my ACE hardware after the home depot because the HD doesnt carry the right silicone anymore.

ABS is 100% safe and many aquarium products are made from it including a lot of filters.

Its not meant to be used under pressure so its not good for supply lines in regular household plumbing, only for waste lines: its all to do with pressure and not toxicity.

ABS is routinely used safely in aquariums.

Thanks alot guys, Now if i could just find the right silicone and not have to buy the over priced stuff at my LFS i would be in heaven.

Any ideas on brands and types to use? i heard the GE I 100% silicone would work but i always check things out with others just to be safe.
