My tank is cycled, and I have a healthy supply of diatoms. My janitor critters are arriving today along with a few soft corals(star polyps adn zoanthids). I've been researching acclimation procedures, and this is what I've learned in a nutshell.

Inverts: Place package in container and very gradually add tank water over several hours. Place inverts in tank.

Corals: Same procedure as above, but place corals at mid-tank or lower for a few days with mild alternating current then place in final location.

Is this sound advice?

Any other recommendations?

And what is alternating current?

Thanks!

I float bags for 15 minutes to equallize the temperatures. I then slowly add water to bags every 5 minutes or use a drip till volume in bag doubles. I then move them into the tank. I do not worry about alternating current. I do try to put in area of current that matches their needs.

Thanks for the reassurance!

I've got all my inverts in the tank, and they are having a banquet!

I'm overwhelmed with my corals. They're just frags, but I turned my tank lights on after I put them in the tank and they started opening. The colors are incredible. I feel like a 5 year-old who's just gotten her Easter basket. Leaving my lights off while my inverts get use to home is going to be rough. GARF www.garf.org did a great job picking them out for me. I got 10 soft corals for $100. Now I have to research each to find out its needs. Just had to share. Boy, am I hooked!!!! Thanks;)
