im planing on setting up a 10 gal planted tank, and i was thinking about getting 2 female betas, some guppies or tetras (one or the other) and some panda cories. my question is: how active and social are these fish? are they a constantly swiming, come to the glass when you do kinda fish? or are they a sit in the same spot for 2 hours kinda fish...? i was thinkin if a beta can live in a 1/4 gallon container then they must not be to active. so if these fish arent active and fun to watch, what fish would be good??

thanks in advance:rolleyes:

I think betas are boring, pretty, but boring. I'm sure there are some here that will disagree. If you want something active in a 10 gallon I'd recommend killifish. Mine are constantly active and they have personality. The males are beautiful. And they generally get no bigger than 2" or so. (A few species get bigger.) If you do get some make sure you have a good hood on your tank because most species are good jumpers and they are curious as well.

bettas probably aren't active BECAUSE theyre in a 1/4 gallon tank. Put them in something larger with a heater and they are pretty active and interesting little fish

I recomend clown killi aka rocket panchax or badis

Bettas are actually very active. Well at least the ones I've had were. If you want hyper active fish, zebra danios would be your fish.

Agree about the danios if you're looking for extremely active fish.

If you are looking for fish with personality I would suggest 2-3 dwarf puffers.

My male CT betta is a VERY curious critter. I have a 10 gal, and with him I have some cory cats and a snail. There are also live plants, a cave to hide in, a heater, a powerful filter, and lunar lighting. Sometimes I think I should call him curious george, because he's always getting into everything!
