adding a flower pot

I recently picked up a plain flower pot from the local nursery. Is it safe to put it in the aquarium as is? Should I boil it? Or are they not safe at all?

I used plain old clay pots as spawning caves..never had any problem...Just make sure it has never had soil or ferts in it...May not be good...
