I have collected a very nice piece of wood from a stream the other day and want to add it to my tank. I have cleaned it and srubed it good under fresh water, I have boiled it and have it now in water (not in the tank) for almost a day.
I just want to ask if it is safe to put wood from nature into a tank? If I can do anything else to avoid any bad cosequenses in the future? and how long I should leave it in water outside the tank before adding it to the tank?

You boiled it, so that should have killed off anything living in/on it. All you should be concerned with now is the wood may leach tannins into your tank water. It's not necessarily a bad thing —*it will tint your water light yellow or brown and lower the pH a bit. If you want to avoid that, soak the wood in water for a day and see if it tints the water. If it doesn't, you're good to go. If it does, change the water and keep changing it twice a day until the water is clear.
