Adding Fish

We need some basic info before we can answer this question for you:
How big is your tank?
Have you tested for Nitrites, Ammonia
What type of fish are you getting?
What is the temperature of your tank,
What set up do you have on your tank?
How long have you cycled your tank?

I checked out your site. It looks nice - make sure you let everyone know when you have pics :)

Have your Nitrate & Nitrite levels come down since your last posting? I would wait to add anything until everything reads zero. When you are ready to add fish, float the bag in the tank for about 15 - 20 minutes so the temps acclimate. You can then release them into the tank.

Good luck!

IMHO how long I float and mix water into the new fish bag depends where they come from. My fav lfs has the same city water that I do so the ph etc. is very close. I normally float 15-20 mins then add water to the bag, wait 15-20 mins more and repeat adding water. Haven't lost any fish in the last few months using this method. Everybody tends to find their own way of doing this. Good luck and keep asking questions.:)

DrDeath, Thank You.
As for the other info, I just finished doing a fishless cycle (5 weeks) Nitrites 0, Nitrates 5, Ammonia 0, PH 6.8
I have a 55 gallon. My temp. is a steady 72 - 73 deg.
I was looking into just getting some tetras to start with, unless there are other suggestions.

What kind of tetras were planning to keep? The temperature seems a bit on the low side. (I've generally kept mine at around 77)

Sorry but I have never heard of this, usualy when I get my fish it take me about 30 mins to get home, I float the bag (with the lights on) for 10-15 mins depends on the temp difference between the bag and the tank, then net them and stick them in, don't open the bag and let the fish out and the water from the bag go into the tank, since the Fish store water could have unwanted nasties in it.

Good Luck!!!
