Adding HOB filter to fix cloudiness?? Opinions

I was also wathcing your thread as well. My added filter is not helping either. I assumed incorrectly. My only conclusion is that I am overfeeding a bit, but it doesn't "feel" like it. I am following a thread about UV sterilizers, but I will only spend the money if it fixes the problem. My main frustration is that I could live with anything else, but the cloudy water is so unattractive.

I had posted earlier that I used to have tanks as a kid and never followed any of the cycling steps (frequent water changes, etc.) and never had a problem with cloudiness or fish health. I got no response, but I am curious if my cloudiness is related to frequent water changes and the bio-media used for "cycling".

You're about in exact same boat as me. I once owned a 10 gallon and 20 gallon when I was younger, while I never did water changes (didn't know better) I took good care of them and they did absolutely fine. Now, I do weekly water changes, change the filter when recommended, don't overfeed, everything i'm supposed to and it's still too cloudy. Only difference it seems between us right now is that you have the 12 gal. nano with a few smaller fish while I've got a big 55 gal. with one bulky Oscar lol.
