Hi all!
I have a 10g stocked w/ the following:

1 African Dwarf Frog
1 Ghost Shrimp
1 Red Wag Platy (m)
3 Black Mollies (1 m, 2 f)
3 Albino (Pygmy?) Corys

Was wondering the following:

A) Will my ADF be left in the dust when I'm feeding? I haven't seen him eat with my own eyes since I got him 4 days ago.

B) Should I add a platy or two to keep my other one company?

C) Do Ghost Shrimp add much to the bio-load? ( I wouldn't think so seeing as the scavenge and don't poop much)

D) Would my Red Wag mate with either of my mollie females?

Thanks for any help I am a religous water changer (sometimes every other day, I like vacuuming and moving decor a lot), and plan on upgrading my tank once I move out of my current residence.

Your frog question: Yes, they need to be fed specifically. The feeding issue is often why many suggest that frogs should be kept in tanks w/o fish, but IMO and IME as long as you target feed them, they'll do fine in a community tank. Get some frozen bloodworms and a turkey baster or some similar apparatus and target feed them. They can starve to death.

Ghost shrimp question: No, its almost completely negligible. Many people suggest 1 ghost shrimp per gallon of water (in addition to your fish load)

Not too sure about the others. I will suggest making some sort of cave for the frog as they can go batty without a dark hiding place. I'll also stress the part about feeding them specifically. And, make sure your cover is tight!

Thanks, I will target feed him from now on.
I definately have a structure which he can hide in, it is like a chinese house or something but its pretty dark and i've seen him hide there before. If I had some plant cover up top would he enjoy that?

This thread is pretty old, but I thought I would respond for anyone else looking in the future...

The plant cover is a good idea. I have some floating and down in the substrate. My frog hangs out under it, on it, over it, climbs in it, etc. Sometimes having the plants makes it easier to target feed him, since the fish aren't likely to notice and make a grab for the food. I just keep my water level lower than usual so the frog doesn't use the plants for a launch pad in to the filter or something . I also make sure any spaces around the heater or other equipment are sealed with a piece of filter sponge and the lid is on tight. Keeps the heat in, but more importantly, it keeps the frog in. BTW, Leopardess is the best source around here for frog info and has a link in her post above.
