My dwarf african frog, Kermit, is founs every few hours upside down in the tank. I turn him over and he swims away. Today he doesn't swim away very well. I have put the food right in FRONT of his mouth and he doesn't eat it! I don't know why and it's frustrating me! He is in a 6 gallon tank with two male guppies. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

well I have had her for a few months. The guppies have been there the same amount of time. The guppies hardly ever bother him. I left for a week and had someone take care of her and when I got back she was SKINNY! I have tried feeding her very carefully but it hasn't worked:(

You don't have to comment cause my frog, Kermit jut died.:'(

Take her out of the six and put her in a smaller bowl/tank to herself...with a water level of only about 2-3 inches....and some plants for her to hide in.

This way you'll be able to feed her easier. I just drop some fish pellets in the water and my adfs snatch them up. If the water level is low enough for them they can get them right form the surface of the water...otherwise she'll probably scoop them up off the bottom. You could try live black worms if you can find them....or chop up some earthworms.

It doesn't have to have a filter, just do regular water changes and she'll be fine. Leave her in there until she strengthens up and then you could probably reintroduce her to the six.

When you put her back in the six, pick a spot that is easiest for you to drop some food to her. Feed your fish first..and then while they are eating...put some food in this spot..something that will sink....after a bit, she'll know where to go to eat.

All the best BFish ! ;)

Sorry to hear about your frog, but seeing as you were away for a week don't beat yourself up thinking that it was your fault. Maybe the person taking care of him didn't do things properly???

Me too :(

Beautifulfish...the same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I think the frog wasn't eating like he should have, because they only had the freeze-dried bloodworms. I got 3 new froggies (to keep my little guy that was left company) and some frozen bloodworms, and they really seem to like those more than the freeze-dried. My little guy from before is super-small compared to the new frogs. I don't know whether he's small due to the fact that he's not eating right, or maybe he's just a little younger than his new friends.

I'm sorry you lost your buddy. :( It really sucks, because it's easier to get attached to the frogs than the fish. They are so cute and fascinating.

i have an adf in my tank he does the same thing burries himself in the rocks and never really comes out i read up on them and the websites i have found told me they eat the left over fish food that sinks to the bottom of the tank hopefully mine is eating like these sites say. sorry that you lost her maybe she was just an old frog when you got her no way of really telling tho :-(
