advice about south american cichlids

i have a empty 29 gal tank can't make up my mind what to put in it i am thinking maybe south american cichlids i hear africans are too aggressive i need some advice before i make any discisions if cichlids are not right for my 29 gal i'll make it another commuinity tank or maybe i'll use as a speces tank i appreciate any advice or ideas any one has thanks alot :help:
 
You can put in it a couple of pelvicachromis (pulcher, taeniatus, subocellatus) . They can be aggresive to other fish (not each other) during reproduction.
Or you can put in some a couple of sud american dwarf cichlids (like apistogramma or ramirezi) and some
