My husband and I have been taken for a ride it seems. Friday our car broken down, more money than its worth to fix (needs transmission rebuild) and we were in a hurry to get a new running vehicle. We got a 98 jeep cherokee saturday night and the other day I noticed that something didnt add up. the mileage on the inspection sticker was lower than the mileage listed for the next oil change being due on a sticker that was from 09. How does that work? not to mention the mile on the title vs the mileage and date on the sticker suggested that the car was driven 7,000 miles in just the past month. I used to come close to that but I was driving almost 100 miles to work and then again back every day. Anyways, I was suspicious, so I checked and the vin on the car does not match the vin on the sticker. I want to call the cops but that wont get our money back. Im thinking of calling the guy and threatening to turn him in if he doesnt give us our money back and take back his POS. I dont want to register the car if there's something up with it, but in the meantime I dont have a vehicle I can legally drive. If he stole a sticker off something to put on this to sell, that makes me think it wont pass inspection and we dont have the money to get it repaired to pass. So what should I do? just call the cops in the first place or talk to the guy?
