Hey everybody

I need some suggestions on what to do about my tank. It's been set up for about 5 months now and I would like some opinions on what to do to make it look nicer. Take something away? Add something? Move things around? Any ideas are appreciated.

sorry it's not a good picture

Dayton,

To me, it looks like there's lots going on in the back and almost nothing in the front / middle. I think I'd try to get some depth (front-back) set up, with some medium size plants in the middle.

Is this photo the 20g in your sig? If so, am I correct that it's a 20g long? I've been pondering getting one, not sure, maybe I'll get something big...

FWIW, the pic doesn't look overstocked, but I don't know how big all those fish get.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I like where the rocks and driftwood are.

If I may, from an artistic point of view?

It's a little too linear. Too many straight lines and things in a row. Would you mind if I aquascaped a wee tad with PhotoShop and posted it here for you?

Just some quickie changes. I added some plants that were not linear. More rounded and stuff. Moved the driftwood as well.

I'm afraid it's not very good. Having a hard time getting the kids to get to sleep and they keep interrupting me with this and that. Sorry.

I would absolutely love that Roan, thank you so much!

IMO if i was to do somthing i would mabey add a piece of driftwood under your existing piece but as metioned it has alot of straight lines though it is a very nice looking tank already GOOD LUCK!!

You could just stagger your existing plants in more of a zigzag pattern as opposed to a straight line...as in move every other plant toward the front a few inches at varying distances to each other. You could move the rocks in the back left corner toward the front more, as well.

thats some amazing photoshop...
Agreed

It looks great Roan; I definitely am gonna go in your direction. I'm thinking maybe some live anubias and java fern in the front and use all my plastic plants in the background but zig-zag them as slappy suggested. Also I might add some more rocks to the left side.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Post some 'before and after' pics when you're done. :)

alrighty, I'll be sure to do that. Made a few changes today, just shifting things around to see what worked. I'll take a picture with my girlfriend's digital camera and then again when I'm done.
