African Butterfly Fish at Walmart

Well, these ones were all at the top of the tank, didn't seem too stressed.
I decided I'll go back tomorrow, too pooped tonight. You guys got me going now. Lovely pic Leoapardess, I put it on my desktop. Is it ok with you? Awsome.

I'd send you one Chunks, but how the heck do ya parcel em up? Hang in, if we have them I'm sure, they've come from the States. I read the wall hanging from the company that supplies Walmart fish. Its called Mars.
Why don't you head over to your nearest Wally World and ask?

Its fine with me, but like I said, it's not my pic:) He linked it on a public page, though, so I figure the link is fair game...

Carnage at Walmart

Well, ther were only 5 butterfly at 10:30 a.m this morning, not counting the dead floater :(.
I bought one....Roxanne is doing fine so far. Hovering over the plants.

I also rescue 3 dojo loach, that didn't seem long for this world. The dojos, are just laying there on the bottom, I'm worried. Pity the ones left behind. My heart is broken today. What a sad sight. And those baby tiger oscars that came to the window to investigate my finger.

Walmart should not sell fish!! The salesman looked up the water conditions for the fish, told me how to keep them, the best to his knowledge. :sad But, I know more than him, thanks to this forum and the internet.

Awww. Well I'm glad you got one (roxanne - cute name)!

Will she eat yet? Don't be surprised if she doesn't. Butterflies seem to be notorious for not eating for the first week or two. I've found frozen krill (chopped in half) make mine very happy! Some float, some don't ...don't know why but I just use the ones that float and save the sinkers for the pictus and loach. I drop them in and blow them across the surface to Sarge and he gobbles them up. Its really neat to see that trapdoor mouth open!

Hi Yes, she ate a piece of flake food last night and a few this morning. I blew a piece across the top of the water to her and she ignored it. Then she took a second look and swam slowly up to it and nibbled a piece. This morning I did the same and she ate about 4 little pieces, which I figure is enough. Tonight I'll do it again. Frozen krill? Sounds yummy, I'll try.

i had no problem feeding mine, in fact it gobbled down 3 small crickets within the first 30min of being in my tank

try some crickets, drop it right by the AFB, they swim around in circles and the butterfly swims right up to it and chomps it. Its pretty cool when the cricket is big enough that the AFB cant eat it in one bite; they chew them up pretty bad (cricket legs floating on the surface...)
