african dwarf frog tankmates

I just got a 5 gallon tank which is currently cycling. Once it is done, I plan on putting two african dwarf frogs (which I already have) into the tank.

I was wondering what else could share the tank with the frogs. I was thinking about getting a male betta, but I was curious if there were any other options.

I think it would be neat to get guppies but I am also guessing that 5 gallons isn't really enough for them, since I've read conflicting things online. Would it be okay to just get two?

I've just never had a tank before which was actually cycled and could have something other than a betta, so I'm excited, but I also know that 5 gallons is still not very big, so I'm cautious.

Thanks!

I think a trio of male guppies with the frogs would be fine. I'm sure some folks will disagree with me but guppies don't get that big, not the males anyways.

in a 5 gallon I wouldn't put much more in there at all. If it were a ten gallon, you could add guppies lat rat said...

Are you saying that you wouldn't put anything in a 5 gallon tank aside from the two african dwarf frogs? I was under the impression that I could at least have a betta in the tank with them.

I think a betta would be ok, but nothing else.

I agree with Cap. 2 ADF's in a 5g don't need much more. A betta should be ok, just watch out that the betta doesnt try to nibble on the frogs. A lot of people keep them with bettas and have no issue, but every once in a while you get a betta that likes to bite, so I would just keep an eye on them. ADF's are pretty social, so in a bigger tank you could add a lot of different types of fish as tank mates as long as they were not small enough fish for the frogs to eat, but in a 5g I would either stick to the 2 frogs or try adding just one betta. Good luck. :)

ADF's aren't the greatest bioload contributors on the face of the earth. Depending on you filtration, there shouldn't be a problem with a trio of male endlers with the 2 ADF's.... A male betta is another option. Good luck!

I would not advise the male beta becuase depending on how agressive the betta is it can attack the frogs i have had one that would attack anything that even came near his tank let alone in it. I would put a few endlers guppies in there they should be fine. Good luck with it all
