african dwarf frogs?

just to clear this up if your post was aimed towards me for making an identification by a simple position, terror.. i wasnt making an identification. just stating that it kind of does look like one in that position. i only said it because of how someone said "yep, its an ACF" and poster was quick to correct him. just saying that the persons identification could have stemmed from something.. something like that frog actually kind of does look like an ACF from the way hes positioned in that pic along with the lighting.
its also a lil funny how there was discussion about how sometimes the frogs get mixed up in LFSs and how this person and that person knew this or that and blabablabla.. then the poster got a pic of 1 of his ADFs that actually looked like it couldve been an ACF just bc of how the pic was taken. i wudnt ID something from a dimly lighted picture that i was unsure of.

no biggie, sheesh. just giving my 2 cents on the thread and situation.

I find it amusing how defensive they are.

It is Lovely how people can make an identification based on a simple position!
If you are not sure then don't reply!
Please give people interested in proper info a break.

These little frogs can get bloat too. Watch out for frog and tadpole bites...this food is not stable. Plus your fish can be affected too.

Do you have a link to info about why they are unstable?

i guess i dont classify the big chain stores as LFS, more as a last resort horrible place for anything but supplies, and not even great at that, but yeah i would imagine places like petco and petsmart would stock things incorrectly...
That is a very ignorant thing to say.

im wondering the same thing
Same here.

Same here.

this topic has gotten way off track and is now alot of arguments, if its not about ADF's then it really needs to be discussed elsewhere...

if you DISAGREE about my statement about big box stores then so be it, but im surely not ignorant for making that statement as I personally have had nothing but BAD experiences with PETSMART and PETCO, I also dont know many fishkeepers who would speak well of either of these businesses...

anyway, there are many possible complications with ADF's, there is a current virus strain that affects them, its percentage of population is apparently quite low, all this info can be found by searching ADF complications on google, there are a few sites and articles that come up.

As with all pets there are many possibilities of problems, so you have to care for them the best you can, and also remember that sometimes pets dont make it, the only garuntee you get with a pet, is that eventually it will die, you just do your best to make it comfortable and happy...

lovely little frogs, they find hiding spots in the tank that I didnt know existed, they seem to like to dive in between the tetras and they also like to play in the plants, i am very happy to have added these frogs to my tank.

This link has some videos of ADFs. They are really cute. We had two back in AZ. They are really wonderful to watch and will keep you entertained for hours. Ours befriended Loachy (clown loach we had) and they would hang out together in one of the caves available, with their faces peaking out. I think they might have been watching the world go by...http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Dwarf_African_Frog
