I have five discus in a community tank, two are a mated pair. They recently spawned (I'm not intentionally trying to spawn them) and the eggs got eaten by the other discus. However, they are still guarding their filter intake tube where the eggs used to be! When will they stop? I don't want them to stress themselves out when there are no eggs to guard.

Agree with above, theres nothing you can really do in the mean time. They will figure out they are gone soon..

Let me ask, are you SURE they are gone and the fish havent moved the eggs? Or the eggs havent hatched into wigglers?

they probably know the eggs are gone - no reason to give up what they believe is a nice spawning spot.
