hey there all. it's been awile since i've posted anything.haven't had much reeason too, as everything was doing fine. i'm posting in the newbie forum because i'm only three years in and that's not very long for this hobby. Anyway, i recently had a bouncing baby boy. well when my wife went into the hospital everything was fine. but complications arose. she was is there for 7 days. and of course i was there too. i came home everyday to feed our dogs and fish. for some reason though my dottyback perished along with my tiger cowrey(spelling?). both of which i could not get out.:mad2: now my tank is crashing fast. i'm in the process of water changes and the whole deal. long backstory for my actual question....sorry. in my cleaning adventure i spotted 4 aiptasia in my tank. i heard that lemon juice with a needle will do the trick. WHERE DO I FIND THIS? :help: I did a search but could not find anything. looking for something cheap, nothing special. can i find these at a drug store?(rite-aid) any help would be great.. thanks in advance

Well, first off...sorry to hear about the losses but also congrats on the baby boy....Chuffed for you...

Right then, yes, you can get them from your local drug store, but i believe in the US you have to personally ask for them...Then, stab the swines in the middle and inject about 1ml of joes into them...

Or, another tried and tested way is injecting them with boiling water and watch them suckers melt...

ok...i have never seen any at anytime while at a drug store.but that would make sense if you have to ask for them. joes?

Well, here in the UK, we have to ask for them at the counter...makes you kinda feel like your a drug user or something...and you try telling them what you want the needle for and they will just look at you with an amazing dumb expression...he he he..

Joes....Sorry, joe's juice...its a common liquid you can buy that aiptasia's really do not like so much...

:D thats funny. that's excactly what i was thinking when you wrote that you have to ask for it. "they are going to think i'm on drugs":)

Blue Life Aiptasia Control works very well and is completely reef safe it not only melts them but forms a calcium cap over them that prevents any parts getting away and reforming into a new aiptasia. but you can get the needles from you doctor that what i did it was much easier talking to my doctor rather than some random person...lol. the lemon juice and other idea work very well though there is just some chance of error and regrowth if not done right.

You can also order the syringes and needles from a scientific supply website, like www.vwr.com or fisher scientific. I work in a lab and order stuff from them all the time. They'll be sterile, but I don't know if you could buy less than 25 at a time. Worth checking I guess.
