Air Pump

if it is small enough to boil, then do so for a couple of hrs, though a good scrubbing with hot water is probably all you need.

The water change out was for preparing the driftwood, not on maintaining your tank.

You don't need to change the tank water 100%. You need to change the water you're soaking the driftwood in 100% every day. You'll see the tannins leach out, the water will look like tea.

Do I need to treat the water? I didn't. I just filled the sink up half way... and my wood is floating in the sink. Is this okay? I know the tannins will leach out but will it also make it sink?

You will see a yellowish brown coloring the water and possibly some parasites going into the water. Other than that I wish you good luck!

no you dont need to treat the water. the way your doing it is fine. it will make it sink over time. it prob wont sink for some time. when you put it in the tank just put rocks on it to keep it down. you could also use silicon to glue slate to the bottom of it.
