ok so I have another question but this is a technical question about airpumps. I have a few that came with my tank that no longer work. I took apart but could not really tell what I was looking at because I am new to the hobby. anyway, when plugged in the units both turn on and it sounds as if they are working, just no air comes out. I'm somewhat familiar with the diaphram and where that is, although i'm not 100% certain on how they work. anyway,
1>what are the 1st things to go wrong on a vibrating type airpump?
2>are they easy to fix, is it worth messing with?

1. The main failure I've seen is the rubber plunger cracking.

2. There isnt a lot to them, I think I fixed my first one when I was about 12. Dont remember it costing more than a couple dollars for the repair kit at my LFS.

It has been my experience that the diaphram is what goes haywire a lot of the time. However, it is quite easy to replace and is not expensive to do.
