It's not really HUNG from the ceiling, it stands on it's own trunk and pedestal base... but there is a hook in our ceiling and there is a chain at the top of the tree and you hook it up, to stabilize it... keeps it from tipping over obviously because it's completely top heavy.
The presents go on the floor!

But at our house, we put the presents by the fireplace... Since Santa usually overloads the stockings and they end up on the floor rather than hanging from their hooks on the mantle... so the gifts kinda end up in a pile near the stockings.
From my understanding, the upside down trees are ALL the RAGE this year and there was a news story on them a couple weeks ago that said it's not a new concept. That in like 12th century Europe, this was the way trees were done... Something like that anyway.
It's just interesting... We wanted something really "different" when we went shopping for our tree. When we saw this, we said "Well, THAT'S certainly different enough!"
We're not "real" tree people. Neither of us grew up with real trees at home and we're not much for someone trekking into the forest to chop down a perfectly good tree just to stick it in our house for a month.
(Editors Note: Please people, yes, I DO know that they FARM Christmas trees these days, so don't jump on me about it.... It's just not something we're into.)
