Albino Biker (bichir) took out two balla's

Ok guys let me tell u the update on why i didn't feel i was overstocked. I do understand that eventually the ballas will get two big for the tank and when they do i plan on getting a 100g to put them in but if u go by the rule of thumb i was doing fine

38g = 38 inches of fish

3 swordtails all together about = to 7 inches at most
2 algae eaters together= to about 5 inches at most
2 ballas = to 8 inches at most
Albino bicher = to 5 inches at most
redtail shark = to 3 inches at most
3 white clouds = to 3 inches
3 zebras = to 3 inches

total i have 34 inches of fish at most and i have a emperor 400 which is a really good filter that circulates the water really well

i do know that in a few months i would be needing another tank but i dont feel i'm overstocked yet so yeaaaaa

there is no "rule of tumb" in fact that "rule" is a bunch of garbage and you should leave it on the side of the road on your way to your lfs when you go return the ballas, CAEs, and rainbow shark

Not only that, but you have the adult sizes of your fish all wrong.

swordtails get to 4"each
the algea eaters are going to go over 10" EACH
the balas will be 14" EACH
the bichir will also get to over 14"
the red tailed shark will be at least 6" and agressive
the while clouds will be 2 inches each
and the zebras will be two inches each

We've explained many of these things to him in past threads, and he simply refuses to listen. Please don't feed the trolls. (although, the information you guys are bringing up is very valid and good for people new to the hobby to see, hopefully helping them realize that the stocking list newbie has is rediculous for a 38g tank)

dude there is absolutely no need at all to be rude. we are just trying to tell you waht is best for your fish, and you posted a question, and you didnt like the answers you got. they arent giong to change, so you should take them for a grain of salt and do what we told you to do.

Your birchir will double in size in less than 6 months. Both of mine are easily 7 inches long and only 8 months old.

They are a predatory fish, thats why they attacked the balas. The only reason they haven't caught any of the other fish is the fact they are quicker swimmers. It won't be long till you are posting " Why are all my fish gone except my birchir?" He'll get them while they are sleeping most likely.

The bright side of this. Once the birchir eats the other fish you'll no longer be overstocked. A 38 gallon is just about right for a full grown birchir.

Also Biker is the correct way to pronounce Birchir, so i can see why he would think its spelled that way.
