Algae on Fish?

Hello All:

I have some brown algae on my tank's rocks, plants, and some of the gravel. I have 1 oto which has been doing a fair job at reducing the amount of the brown algae.

Among my fish are 2 panda corys. One of them is the traditional white body with the black mask. The other has some brown on his body in the color similar to the algae. Is this something to worry about? Or is it normal since the cory spends a lot of time at the bottom?

I have never seen algae growing on a cory. So, are you sure it is algae?

is there any way you can post a picture? does it look like a coloration change or some sort of raised area/spot?

Is this a new color? I'd suspect that you have 2 different sub-species of cory, one with more brown coloration. It happens a lot--the stores put the ones with similar markings together, or one slips in from another tank, or the shipper combines them, etc.

You won't see algea growing on a fish unless its been dead and gone for a while. Most likely a different species of cory. (not subspecies because they are all classified as different species of fish) All in the same family, but not the same fish.

That all makes sense. There are no bumps, spots, etc on the Cory. He appears to be acting normally. He is probably just a darker cory!
