Algae over the tank walls.

o.k. I have 72 gal bow front planted tank.
I had 1.3 watts/gal of NO on and no algae.
Then in upgraded my lighting to 3.6 watts/gal added a 2 liter DIY co2 with a DIY reactor
Lights on for 10 hrs a day. Very minimum sunlight.

Now I have algae growing on the walls of the tank, it can be easily removed with a scraper. But I hate doin it every 2 days. I also have some brown alge (not too much)

Please help

Ps sorry about the long post...

Well you've effectively tripled your wpg and need to compensate for that with larger plant mass and a much more balanced nutrient regimen and probably a bottle or two more of DIY CO2 to raise your ppm.

I suggest that you pick up some water sprite for floating and also work on propagating and enlarging your plant mass to accommodate the higher light.
Any floater will help shade the tank while you increase the other plant population, but water sprite is particularly effective in this respect.
As all this takes place and the tank matures, you will see a decline of the diatoms(brown algae) and a lessening of the soft green(glass) algae.

IMO, you will need to start dosing N/P/K and finding your tanks needs and balance. Your Flourish supplies the traces. Now you need to supply the other three elements.

djlen, I have wayer sprite, forgot to mention it, but it is planted in the gravel..
Plus I have been addingKNO3 to keep Nitirates @ 7~10 ppm
And Phosphate KH2PO4 keeping it @ .5 ppm..

I also have this brown algae growing in some places… very soft can be wiped off ..

Also some plants have developed brown spots on them..

I will take pics when I get home ..

Thanks again for you help

Get some otto cats, they will eat the soft brown diatoms.
Maybe 7 or so would be nice.
Trade the Ghost shrimps for Amano algae eating shrimps.
Keep up on the DIY brew changes, do not slack.

aahhh i love the ghost shrimps... plus amano shrimps are hard to come by...
i will get some ottos, should i hook upi 2 bottle of C02.
Tom i add Flourish Execl too...

BTW do Ottos eat green algae...
