okay so i want to have a school of tetras but i have hard water my PH is consistently 7.2 and i don't want to adjust it constantly- I've tried that in the past it's futile the water goes back quickly and the osmotic stress on the fish isn't worth it. I already have some black and white fish so i was hoping to find a colorful tetra. any suggestions? (community compatable too)or is it a lost cause?thank guys

7.2 is fine, I wouldn't worry about it. Most fish will adjust to that very well. My ph is around 7.4-7.6 and I have several different tetras.

i have rummy nose tetras and my ph is like 8 or more. ive had cardinals in the same ph. just take the time to acclimate well and you should be ok. if your not sure what kind to get check out this thread cardinals

Same here. I have neons and rummies doing well in my tank, and my pH is around 8. All my local shops seem to keep their fish in water with the same pH so I haven't had any acclimation problems due to that.
