I haven't experienced this b/c I haven't bought any plants YET. A link on Java Ferns mentioned adding Jungle's Plant Saver to the tank if the plant experiences shock after transporting.
Is this common and so severe that this is needed? I plan on setting my plants in my Qtank to let any fish specific parasites die off. Should I add fertilizer to help with shock? Will it help prevent shock. Will your answer shock me? Shock is a funny word if you say it enough times isn't it? Shock.

No Plant Newbie Forum...sorry!

My, that's a shocking thread!!!! I have never had any problem with plant shock. I bring em home, stick em into fresh water from the kitchen sink to rinse, or if they may have snails or snail eggs on them, into an Alum water solution for 24 hours and into the tank they go. I think you'll find that they are pretty tough.

I QT my plants as well. The only plants I have had any problems with are crypts, where two sequetial plantings does seem to guarantee crypt melt - but they do recover. These days I just allow them to float in QT rather than planting them there, then move to permanent homes and plant in the substrate.
