Hi, I own Aqua Safe from Tetra to neutralize my water for every water change. Is it unsafe to add more then directed?

How much more? I know of people dosing for the tank volume rather than just the volume being replaced, and they report no problems. Dosing much higher, well, it might not be lethal, but it isn't needed and in the long run will just cost you more money. What all treatment does your water require?

I try to guess the right amount for the gallons i put in. I put 5 gallons in at a time so i try to tailor it to that. I just want to make sure i get rid of the chemicals in the tap water for sure.

As long as you're not going really overboard, I think you'll be fine. The smaller the tank the easier it would be to overdose it, so keep that in mind.
