I've had the 12gal biocube up for about 3 weeks. It's had a striped damsel, 2 snails and two hermits in there with no problems. I really had no cycle because I used seeded dp water, dp LR and refugium cheato to seed this thing. I also have chemi pure, gac and floss in the first chamber, cheato in the second and nothing but the pump in the third.

Is it possible I bypassed the cycle or is it yet to come? Parameters were always good except the first week with the fish where the nitrites were slightly elevated, but soon subsided. I do 3 gallon water changes every week. Parameters are now very stable.

Q: Can I go ahead and start adding some tough corals like mushrooms and kenya tree? I don't mean tough to keep, but tough in the sense they can take less than pristine water.

Thanks,
Tom

u might have bypassed it! hopefully u did...the chemipure works wonders might be it. as for corals maybe some polyps and mushrooms. the kenya trees are pretty hardy but sensitive to things. but for all reef things water quality should be pristene...so maybe some test results before a definite yes?

You've got it. I'll do a whole array before I add anything delicate. Right now, I only know the death parameters: salinity, temp, ammonia and nitrites.
Thanks,
Tom
