Uh.... my amazon puffer is starving because i havent done my duties to take care of his teeth properly. He can't take in food. I want to help him but his mouth is so small I can't see getting a file on it without hurting him. I dunno i'm between euthanasia and trying to chip his teeth.. do fish feel pain.. any <good> advice welcome. Didn't mean for this to happen, believe me I already feel bad about it. Please get your advice to me as fast as possible.

The teeth can be filed, but it's a tricky process and requires a careful hand. There's a thread in the Brackish forum (where all puffer questions are directed, even for the FW species) that links to a detailed guide.

Moving this. OG

"clove oil" can I get this at walmart and do you know the section? I have been at college for a week so my amazon puff is not looking good at all. Thank you so much...

Got it at Eckerd by the toothache stuff. As stated in another thread its a Red Cross bottle with active ingredient Eugenol 85%.

I'll let you know how it goes in a minute.

I have not had any problems like this with my puffers.
I don't feed my puffers snails, usually. Maybe once or twice a year.
They (the snail) usually die and go to waste with only a few nips in the opening of the shell.
I do find them nipping on a piece of coral. Is this preventing this problem that I am hearing more and more about with puffers teeth growing together?
