I just put a new amazon sword and a water wisteria in my community tank about 3 days ago, today my amazon sword has a strange hairy fuzz on a couple of the leaves. The plant is located near the filter exhaust but not directly in front of it. I did put a fertilizer tab in the substrate about 2 inches away from the plants because I had tons of plants in the tank awhile ago and they all died since then I did a complete breakdown of the tank. Any suggestion on what this fuzz is and how (if needed) to get rid of it? I am assuming it's some sort of Algae.

Thanks in advance!

Your description implies to me that what you are observing is hair algae.

In the absence of additional information my comments are based on this implication and are very general (and as I have posted in other threads).

1) Reduce your lighting duration;

2) Reduce your feeding and

3) Purchase and use Seachem Flourish.

The above comments are based upon very hard earned experience.

Fuzzy....continued

Here are some pics I suck at taking pictures of anything in the aquarium, plus it's a bowfront tank, so it makes it that much more diffacult. Also I am using Seachem Flourish Tabs

So any ideas?

Yes.

Follow the protocol set forth in my previous post but:

1) purchase and dose Seachem Excel at the recommended rate and

2) dose Seachem Flourish at twice the recommended rate for two weeks.

The tabs will not help help with this situation.
