I have an Amazon sword or some hybrid of it that sprouted a long vine. I thought it was a flower, but after a few days sections in the vines seem to be sprouting more sword plants.

How do I propagate it? Do i chop off the vine? bury it? leave it alone?

When the little plantlets develop nice roots you can gently detach them from the stem and replant.

All my swords sprout "daughter" swords. Just let them grow till they have nice roots, then clip and plant.

mine did that about a month ago :D

the plant grew super fast... i just replanted it today :)

That's a real plus about amazon swords. They're so easy to propagate. Wish other plants would do the same thing! lol.

As soon as they get happy they start sending up blooms. If the spike leaves the water you get a little white blossom on the stalk. It's kind of pretty. They also generally form 3 plantlets on a stem.

Is there anyway to "force" the runners? Adding a particular nutrient or something like epsom salts works for roses?
