hi guys, i got a question for you all. last week i got sick of my ammonia in my 15g tank being 0.1, so i added some ammo lock 2, taking the advise from another pet store owner. i do regular water changes (15-20% every week) and i dont over feed, but i could never seem to get the nh3 down! so i added the product last wednesday after a water change, nh3 still 0.1 on saturday, so i added some more (on the bottle it said safe to do 3 doses before a water change is neened). then i went out of town on a work trip, but got rung up on sunday by the girl in charge of the tank when im not there, the tank had gone white!!!!
ammonia 3.7!!!!!!! she did a 20% water change and left it, didnt really know what else she could do. sat night - water clearer, nh3 still high.
monday - water clear, clowns alot happier, nh3 still 3.7.
tueday- i got home, nh3 2.7, did 15% water change, added ammo lock 2 (cause i thourght it was helping).
wednesday - nh3 back up to 3.7!!!!!! :sad .
thursday - nh3 2.4, fish still alive though!
friday - 20% water change, nh3 down to 1.7!!!!
so by now im starting to think that its the ammo lock thats the culprit, up intil now i had no idea what had caused this sudden rise in nh3. so my question is, does this theory sound right? or was it more likely something else, and if so what? and what should i do now? i was just going to keep on doing 2 small water changes every week until it sorts itself out, does this sound right? i was so proud of myself for not having any problems with the tank for so long, and then this happens!! any help would be great!!! please help!!!
