One of the baby angelfish I have apperantly ate a hair. It has on end of the hair sticking out of its mouth, and the other end of the hair is, well...sticking out the other end. I suppose there's not much I can do about it. Not like I can grab it and pull it out. I thought he was a goner really. But its been like that for days. I'm curious of what will happen. If it was going to pass I'm sure it would have by now. Not much I or anyone can do. I just thought it was a little funny, and I thought I'd share.

Is he still eating? If he has stopped eating, might as well give the hair a tug and try to pull it out. I'd try to pull it out from the butt end if I were you. Otherwise, the poor angel will have a horrible taste in his mouth.

:soda:

I wouldn't want to cause internal damage to the fishy either.

id try cutting the hair as short as possible on the mouth end, then into a hospital tank dosed w/ epsom salt. unless you want to dose the whole tank which i dont think would hurt.

Epsom Salts would raise the General Hardness of the main tank ridiculously high for the other fish. Any treatment ideas belong in a hospital tank. For any people interested the formula for epsom salts is MgSO4 and will release Magnesium Ions which affect GH.

Are you sure it is still in one piece after all this time?

Epsom salts thats a good idea. I think I will pick some up, it wont hurt to have them around. I asume it's still in one piece, but then again not really sure. I just know theres hair coming out both ends. Cutting the hair so it's shorter sounds like a good idea too. Be easier for it to pass.

Hope you'll be able to get it out naturally. Not so sure if pulling will help or do more harm...so, I would rather let the stomach+et_all do its job.

p/s: next time I will hair-fishing some angels in the wild !

I fish all the time, and I know that if a fish is to swallow a hook that you are to just cut it off and that their systems will pass it through. I have caught fish with line comming out of their rears, so I know that they do pass it. I don't know if aquarium fish will do the same, but I would leave it and see what happens. If he still is eating then he is doing fine, but if he stops then I would do something about it.
